Deal origination 

The private equity value chain consists of the following stages: deal origination, preliminary due diligence, formal due diligence, negotiation and documentation, and closing.

Before buying or investing in a private company, you must first identify a potential target. Deal origination, also known as deal sourcing, is this first and often most crucial stage of the private equity investment process. It is a key source of competitive advantage and remains a distinctly human pursuit. Arguably, no tech solution can reliably source those hidden top-performing investments.

Essentially, deal origination is the process of systematically finding companies to invest in or acquire, with the goal of identifying targets that match the buyer's strategic goals.

The quality of a firm's deal sourcing practice directly determines the strength of its portfolio. With an LLM in International and Commercial Law and a career spanning six countries, Igor is a seasoned entrepreneur, manager, and lecturer. His unique path through Serbia, the UK, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the UAE has equipped him with a deeply global mindset. 

Igor's expertise is multifaceted. In the academic world, he has shared his knowledge as a lecturer at institutions like the University of Westminster and the University of Hong Kong, where he also took on managerial duties. 

Bridging theory and practice, Igor is also a proven entrepreneur, having previously established and grown a sourcing and market research company in Hong Kong. This blend of academic, corporate, and entrepreneurial experience defines his dynamic professional profile.
